Community Outreach Ambassador

San Francisco, CA, USA

Contract

Part-Time; In Person / Field Based

Type:  Contract - Part-Time

Hours:  20 hours/week

Location:  San Francisco, CA - In-Person / Field-Based

Compensation:  $25/hr + a Full Soul Seated Journey Immersion Scholarship

Team:  Program Development & Delivery

Reports To:  Community Experience Manager

Start Date:  ASAP July 2026 - Sept 2026

About the Role

Do you naturally light up conversations? Are you the person people turn to when they need a real recommendation - someone they genuinely trust?

Are you comfortable talking with young adults ages 18–29 about a fully funded scholarship program designed to help them build confidence, discover their purpose, and strengthen their relationships?

Do people know you as someone who connects others to the right opportunities because you genuinely want to see them thrive?

If so, we'd love to hear from you. This role was made for someone like you.

How This Roles Supports the Organization

The Community Outreach Ambassador role serves as a frontline bridge between Soul Seated Journey and the young adults we aim to serve. Rather than waiting for participants to find us, Ambassadors bring the mission directly into the community - building trust, sharing information, and helping young adults take a first step toward support, belonging, and growth.

Your work will help SSJ do more than recruit applicants. It will help us understand what young adults in San Francisco are experiencing, what they’re longing for, and how we can serve them more thoughtfully.

What You'll Do

This isn’t a boring desk job. You’ll be the face of Soul Seated Journey, building real vibes and real connections across SF.

  • Be the Plug: Hit the spots where young adults actually hang out - parks, transit hubs, coffee shops, and community spaces. Bring the energy and spread the word.

  • Keep It Real: Forget the scripts. Just have honest conversations. Listen, share what our scholarship program is actually about, and help people realize this could be their next big step.

  • Make the Handoff: When someone's interested, get them the info (link or QR code) or set them up with our team to keep the momentum going.

  • Know Your Stuff: Get the deets on the program so you can explain the impact, the support, and the growth opportunities with confidence.

  • Share the Tea: We want to know what’s actually happening on the ground. Keep us posted on what you’re hearing, what’s landing, and how we can better support the community.

  • Stay Connected: Drop in for quick weekly check-ins and show up for team & community events. We’re in this together.

What You Bring

This role is a strong fit for someone who is deeply relationship-oriented, community-rooted, and comfortable taking initiative.

You may be a great fit if:

  • People naturally trust you— not because of a title, but because of who you are

  • You're comfortable starting conversations with strangers in community settings

  • You're rooted in San Francisco and know its neighborhoods well

  • You're reliable, self-directed, and can manage your own daily field plan

  • You’ve looked around at people your age and thought, “There’s more to life than this”

  • You're between 18 and 29, or have recent lived experience navigating this stage of life

What We're Looking For

We especially welcome applicants who are deeply rooted in the Black and Latinx/Latine communities we're currently serving - though what matters most is that you're genuinely trusted, where you'll be building relationships.

Formal outreach, organizing, campus ambassador, peer mentorship, or community engagement experience is helpful, but not required.

What Success Looks Like

Within a few weeks, you’ll have established a consistent presence across 3–5 San Francisco community zones and are generating meaningful conversations every week. We’re looking to drive enough interest and engagement to fill 20 spots in the Immersion cohort.

You'll also be helping SSJ better understand San Francisco’s young adults through contributing and documenting learnings and observations: what young adults are experiencing, what they're longing for, and how we can serve them more thoughtfully.

Why Join Our Journey

This fall, SSJ is launching its first cohort of a scholarship-based 4 month Immersion & Integration journey starting late September 2026. The experience includes an 8-week Immersion followed by an 8-week Integration period designed to help participants apply what they’re learning with continued support, accountability, and community.

Through a blend of coaching, workshops, guided reflection, and community, the program is designed to help emerging adults:

  • become more confident communicators

  • build deeper, more authentic relationships

  • strengthen emotional intelligence and self-awareness

  • develop leadership and relationship-building skills

  • grow in confidence across social and professional settings

  • reconnect with purpose, belonging, and a stronger sense of self

Role Arrangements

Every Community Outreach Ambassador receives a full scholarship to participate in Soul Seated Journey's Immersion experience, starting late September 2026.

As an Ambassador, you’ll have the opportunity to join the same community you’re inviting others to join. We believe the most genuine invitation comes from someone who can honestly say: I’m doing this too.

Program dates: Sundays 9:30am - 1:30pm from October to December 2026.
